Gmail New Functionality Permits Actions Even Before Opening Email

It was announced by Google today, a new functionality for Gmail users that allows for user actions even before the email is opened. Nevertheless, this new update for Gmail does have to be enabled first or custom developed by a software developer as scripts are capable to run inside an email, provided security measures have been taken into account.

The way it works is that the Gmail shows action buttons alongside incoming emails. Furthermore, developers now have access to be creative as a schema.org markup language has been provided to them so that custom actions can be developed as well.

Examples have also been provided by Google for development, where actions could be used for confirmation emails in the case of users registering into a site, or actions can also be used for confirmation on newsletter/magazines subscriptions including one-click action to renewals. Directly available to developers are actions declarations.
